I personally hold one debit card (that deducts money from my account automatically) and an actual credit card (for backup purposes). Anyway, my mother kept nagging at me for a very long time when I signed up for the credit card. I have been more careful with my spending due to the fact that when I got my first debit card, I found myself having to borrow from my mother to buy meals. Sad but true. So, this is one experience I'll never forget. But still, thanks for the article as you made me re-discover the "hazard" of owning too many cards if I can't afford it in the first place.

Mr Beagle: Hi, welcome to my site and thanks for sharing! Really as Elle said we need to be disciplined when we hold credit or debit cards. I find it so easy to give in to that impulse purchase and charge it to my credit card, only to regret when the statement comes at the end of the month!

True. I however hold MANY cards. It's not that I use all of them but each one that is linked to a merchant ie hypermarket, petrol station etc has managed to save me a few hundred RM a year. I pay in full and is always prompt. In summary, if you have the discipline cards can be useful and save you MONEY!!

Mr Beagle: Yes, I agree. I admire you for having the discipline. That way, you take advantage of credit cards instead of letting the banks take advantage of you.

Hi Frugal Beagle, You're cute!!! I'm a frugal Boxer running for president on a campaign of limited government and personal responsibility. Glad there are other dogs crusading for living within your means.
