Today I just want to share with you some ideas on how you can save money and have a great Valentine’s day with your loved one. As with any other special occasion, it has been commercialized beyond ridiculous.

It’s easy to have a frugal Valentines Day celebration, as long as you put some thought and effort into planning for it.

Valentine’s Day Tips for Frugal Beagles:

1. Plan ahead

If you start planning early, you have more time to think about how you can do something special for your lover without spending a lot of money.

Having time to think also means that you can get a really thoughtful gift for your loved one. You can then watch out for a sale so you can get your presents at a discount.

I know it’s kind of too late for this now, but there’s always next year!

2. Stay home

Decorate your home with a romantic ambiance, and the two of you can spend a romantic evening at home with your favourite music playing in the background.

Cook something simple or have food delivered. Ask your relatives to take care of your children for the evening.

Make sure you hide away your TV remote control and turn off your phones.

3. Visit memory lane

Go to the old places you used to visit when you first started dating. They usually cost less. For example, you may want to visit the fast food joint where you had your first date.

You could go for long walks just talking and holding hands.

4. Celebrate at another time

Ask permission to celebrate Valentine’s day a little later or earlier. Things will be sold at their normal prices and restaurants won’t be packed.

5. Do It Yourself

Make your own presents or cook your own food. Everything will be sold at optimum prices at during this season, so you save a lot if all you have to buy are ingredients.

6. Do something unconventional

Do something unique, and don’t follow the crowd. Who wants to spend the romantic evening in a crowded restaurant getting poor service and then paying luxurious prices for it?

You will probably find that you will have a better time without the crowds. Think of some place where the both of you can spend a quiet moment together, somewhere where you can enjoy each other’s company.

For example, you can visit a nice mamak stall or cafe. You could volunteer to do a project at a non-profit organization. You could go camping. You could even go for a slow drive.

Conclusion

Happy Valentine’s Day to all frugal beagles out there! Remember that you don’t have to spend a lot of money to have a good time.
